Examples of Monotypes

If you browse on Youtube there are plenty of demos of monotypes.  These are two interesting examples – in the first one, the artist seems to leave his print on the back of the paper and wants us to see the marks that show through, so the image isn’t reversed.  He must be using slow drying inks, as the ink stays so wet he has no need of a press. The second one shows several different ways of conveying an image onto paper, using a metal plate and a press.

I saw some beautiful examples of monotypes at an exhibition at Red Poles in MacLaren Vale recently. They are by Lorelei Medcalf.
